Quality is Consistency:
Excellence is Consistent Service.
At Electri-Cord, quality is much more than the absence of defects; it is the way we manage our business.
We consider that consistency in all of our processes that go in to producing an electric cord is the route to quality and that consistancy is only achievable through the use of techniques such as statistical process control [SPC], to continuously improve our process and our product. In this way, we prevent defects from hapening in the first place.
In today's competitive environment, we consider it is no longer good enough just to meet specifications - we aim to center all of our processes well within specifications.
We recognize that true quality can therefore only be achieved by the continuous improvement of all stages of our process... not just manufacturing but also purchasing, administration, etc. and indeed all aspects of service to the customer.
Quality is a way of managing, simply because our approach depends on teamwork between our management team and our workforce. At Electri-Cord, we believe in our workforce - they are the people that know our processes and how to improve them, and we hold structured, regular meetings to harness their knowledge. These work teams then use a "Seven Step" approach to process improvement, as shown below. We train our workforce to treat their colleagues at the next stage in the manufacturing cycle as customers, and to work with them to improve quality techniques such as SPC.
Perhaps most important to our quality approach is our dependence on you, the customer. We believe you can help us improve our product even further by constant review against your needs; just as we are with our own suppliers. We extend an open invitation to all of our customers to visit us here in Westfield, PA and see how we achieve quality.
Step 1: Identify Key Problems and Improvement Opportunities
Step 2: Specify Customers and Their Requirements
Step 3: Identify and Quantify Cause and Effect Relationships
Step 4: Verify Cause and Effect Relationships
Step 5: Optimize the Process and Confirm the Results
Step 6: Define Operating Requirements of the Acceptable Process
Step 6: Institute Control Procedures
